In 2018, most of the Italian exports of finished pharmaceuticals were sent to Western Europe. However, according to the data provided by Prometeia, the share held by Western Europe as destination area for Italian exports of medicinal products decreased from 71.7 percent in 2013 to 64.5 percent in 2018. On the other hand, NAFTA countries accounted for 15.7 percent of the Italian export value of pharmaceutical preparations in 2018, an increase compared to 2013.
