In financial year 2021, over 519 thousand metric tons of millets, maize and sorghum were produced in the northern-most state of Jammu and Kashmir in India. Rajasthan was the largest producer of coarse cereals in the country.

Coarse cereals are a broad sub-group of several short duration warm weather (Kharif) crops such as jowar (sorghum), bajra (pearl millet), maize, ragi (finger millet) among others.
India's financial year begins in April and ends in March. For example, FY 2012 started in April 2011 and ended in March 2012.
