The number of individuals working for enterprises active in the paper and cardboard packaging sector in Italy has increased steadily between 2015 and 2022. This figure reached 6,320 people in 2022. That year, the leading company in the paper packaging sector in the country was the Italian branch of the multinational company Smurfit Kappa Italia.

Only includes companies with significant (statutory) turnover and a degree of specialization in the sector greater than or equal to 50 percent of the total turnover. The calculation also considers the balance of power between companies. For example, companies with too high a turnover were discarded, so that their balance sheet structure does not excessively influence the average sector indicators.
