Staff costs of European economies 2005-2019
Staff costs differ across companies and economies. Differences originate from tax levels, regulation and varieties in business culture. The statistic shows the staff costs as share of turnover in selected countries in Europe from 2005 to 2017 and a forecast thereof for 2018 and 2019. French staff costs are the highest in the sample even though they decreased to 16.7 percent in recent years. A sudden decrease in turnover (due to the economic crisis) and less flexible employment spending led the staff costs share peaking in 2009.
