This statistic depicts the results of a survey conducted in April 2019 in Japan about the share of children receiving pocket money on a regular basis, sorted by age. During the survey period, the majority of surveyed children, around 57.3 percent, did not receive an allowance regularly, with over 65 percent being in elementary school. In contrast, the majority of children in junior high school, around 59 percent, received pocket money regularly.

*In the Japanese school system, elementary school children are aged 6 to 12 years, while children visiting junior high school are in the age group12 to 18 years.
Survey targets were parents with children in elementary or junior high school, filling out the survey together.
