Highest ODI score by player 2024
In November 2014, India's Rohit Sharma broke the record for the highest individual score in a One Day International cricket match. The opener scored an astonishing 264 runs of 173 balls against Sri Lanka in Kolkata. India ended up winning the match by 153 runs, with Rohit Sharma unsurprisingly being named player of the match.
Sachin Tendulkar - the Little Master
Eleventh on the list of highest individual ODI scores is Sachin Tendulkar, who scored 200 not out off 147 balls in a win against South Africa in 2010. Tendulkar, nicknamed the "Little Master" is widely heralded as one of the best batsman in the history of cricket. With almost 16 thousand test runs to his name, he is the leading male international test match run-scorer of all time, as well as topping the ranking of leading men's One Day International run-scorers. Tendulkar retired from all forms of cricket after playing his record-breaking 200th test match against the West Indies in November 2013. He was subsequently inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2019.
ICC Rankings
As well as releasing rankings for individual batters and bowlers in both the men's and women's games, the ICC (International Cricket Council) also regularly updates its ranking of international sides in all three formats of the game - test match, ODI, and T20. The ICC Men's Test Team Rankings rank the international teams that have Test cricket status based on their performance in recent international series. As of November 2023, India was top of the team rankings despite losing the Cricket World Cup final to second-placed Australia. In the women's game, meanwhile, Australia topped the ICC ranking of leading Women's Twenty20 countries.
