It is estimated that global food emissions totaled 18 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent in 2015, of which 51 percent were attributable to six economies. China's food system produced 2.4 billion metric tons of CO2e in 2015, representing 13.5 percent of global food system emissions.
