Statista survey ‘’Alcoholic Beverages in the United States 2017’’ which was conducted amongst consumers who drink whisky at least once per week.
Leading whisky brands
Jack Daniel’s is the first choice amongst American consumers when it comes to choose their favorite whisky brand. The bourbon made nearly US$318 million in sales in 2019 which is 5 million more than the second-ranking Crown Royal Canadian. Owned by the Brown-Forman Corporation, Jack Daniel’s also holds the biggest market share among whisky brands in the U.S., with about 13.3% of total whisky sales in 2017/18.
Total whisky consumption
The total whisky consumption in the U.S. summed up to a total of more than fifty million 9-liter cases of whisky, as of 2018. The peak months of whisky consumption were the ones around Christmas: in December 2018, almost seven million 9-liter cases had been consumed by the American respondents.
France is the global leader when it comes to whisky consumption on per capita basis. The French consumed over 2.1 liters on average which is 0.38 liters more than the second-placed Uruguay. The United States ranks third, with an average American respondent consuming 1.4 liters of whisky in 2014.
