Dutch Election: Far-Right Wilders on Course for 2nd Place
Election Day
Today, the Netherlands will vote in what is proving to be a pivotal vote in not only the history of the country but of the EU itself with Geert Wilders, the controversial leader of the right-wing 'Party for Freedom' (PVV). The latest polls suggest that Wilders' party, running on a platform of anti-Islam and euroscepticism, is set to take a strong second place. A win for his party threatens to set the ball rolling on a 'Nexit' - the withdrawal of the Netherlands from the European Union. If 2016 has taught us anything though, it is to take such polls with a not insignificantly sized pinch of salt.
