Theresa May will replace him after an audience with the Queen at Buckingham Palace before naming her frontbench team. She will become Britain's second female prime minister after Margaret Thatcher and she is expected to promote a string of her fellow female Conservative colleagues into key cabinet positions.

Rwanda and Bolivia's parliaments were 63 and 53 percent female respectively in 2015.
