Later today, David Cameron will face his last Prime Minister's Questions and leave Downing Street for the final time. Theresa May will replace him after an audience with the Queen at Buckingham Palace before naming her frontbench team. She will become Britain's second female prime minister after Margaret Thatcher and she is expected to promote a string of her fellow female Conservative colleagues into key cabinet positions.
29.4 percent of British MPs are currently women (191 out of 650) but how does that compare to other countries? According to data compiled by the World Bank, Britain comes 43rd out of 186 countries for political gender representation. Rwanda and Bolivia's parliaments were 63 and 53 percent female respectively in 2015.
