Walmart is the top-selling company in the world, turning over around $611 billion in annual revenue. This is according to the Statista company database Company DB. The next retailer on the list, e-commerce giant Amazon, is a whopping $100 billion behind that with a revenue of around $514 billion.
With energy prices skyrocketing after the Russian invasion of Ukraine in early 2022, the current list of the highest-grossing companies includes many oil and gas ventures, the biggest being Saudi state-owned enterprise Saudi Aramco with an annual revenue of $604 billion. The top 10 also includes Dutch oil & gas company Vitol, PetroChina and CNPC as well as Exxon Mobil and Shell. The State Grid Cooperation of China, which is in the business of electricity generation, transmission and distribution, comes in rank 9. The sole other non-energy company on the list at the moment is Apple, with annual revenues of $394 (rank 8).
