For all his strengths, modesty has never been one of Jay-Z’s strong suits. During his long career, the U.S. billionaire rapper hasn’t shied away from comparing himself to the all-time greats. Whether it’s “crushing Elvis and his blue suede shoes”, being “on the Beatles’ ass” or having “five more rings than Michael Jordan had” (now it’s eight by the way), Jay-Z demands the throne and in many cases he has the numbers to back up his claim. As a matter of fact, he did surpass Elvis Presley as the solo artists with the most number 1 albums in the United States in 2009, leaving just The Beatles for him to beat.
After the 2023 Grammy Awards, the 53-year-old rapper has even more bragging rights: not only does he share the record for the most Grammy nominations with his wife Beyoncé, but his better half is now the person with the most wins in the award's 65-year history. Back in 2011, Jay-Z rapped: "Bey-Bey [Beyoncé] my Yoko Ono, Rih-Rih [Rihanna] complete the family. Imagine how that's gon' look front row at the Grammys." As the official Grammy power couple, the Carter family no longer has to worry about seating arrangements at the award show, and Jay-Z can add "prophet" to his resume.
