A new Pew Research Center survey has found that nearly half of American voters are now expecting difficulties casting their ballot in November. Its findings come amid an unprecedented crisis with the Trump administration accused of curtailing United States Postal Service operations at a time when the necessity for voting by mail is soaring due to the pandemic.
Pew's data shows that 15 percent of U.S. voters considered it difficullt to cast their midterm vote in October 2018 and that increased to 49 percent in August 2020 ahead of the presidential elections this November. 35 percent of Republican registered voters are expecting difficulties compared to 60 percent of Democrats.
