Utah Republican Senator Mitt Romney was the only member of the GOP who voted to convict President Donald Trump in the impeachment trial. Trump was accused of obstruction of justice and abuse of power, the charge Romney voted guilty for. Trump was acquitted of both allegations, with Romney being the only Republican in the Senate to take a stand against Trump.
Now, most Republicans want Romney ousted from their party. In a YouGov poll conducted February 6, which surveyed more than 6,000 Americans, 58 percent said Romney should be removed from their party. Out of all Americans polled, 59 percent said Romney should not be ousted.
Trump has now waged war against Romney, slamming him as a secret Democrat and saying he’s a “sore loser.” "Had failed presidential candidate @MittRomney devoted the same energy and anger to defeating a faltering Barack Obama as he sanctimoniously does to me, he could have won the election,” Trump tweeted February 6.
