11 days on from the disappearance of Malaysian Airlines flight MH370, there is still no sign of the missing Boeing 777. Search efforts are being conducted by 26 countries over a massive swathe of land and sea measuring more than seven and a half million square kilometres.
To put the massive search area in perspective, it is roughly the same size as Australia or about 1.5 percent of the planet’s surface All in all, it would be possible to fit 1.98 billion Boeing 777-200s into that area lined up wing-to-wing and nose-to-tail, according to the Guardian.
