Taiwanese-American CEO Jensen Huang, who co-founded and heads graphics processor company Nvidia, was crowned the best-performing CEO by the most recent 2019 Harvard Business Review CEO ranking. The publication rated CEOs by their companies’ financial performance and factored in 30 percent of their environmental, social, and governance ratings.
While six CEOs in the top 10 are with U.S. companies, only two of these are also American born. Besides Huang, three more CEOs of U.S. companies were born in India. Ajay Banga of Mastercard hails from Pune, while Shantanu Narayen of Adobe and Satya Nadella of Microsoft were both born in Hyderabad.
Other nationalities featured on the list were French, with two CEOs in the top 10, Spanish and Belgian. The highest-ranking woman was American Nancy McKinstry at Dutch information services company Wolters Kluwer in rank 16.
