The OECD surveyed people across the world about what their pressing short- and long-term worries were. While countries differed based on where they were and their wealth, the overarching concern people in 14 out of the 21 countries surveyed cited was becoming ill or disabled. Specifically, Finland was the country with the most people that put ‘becoming ill or disabled’ as one of their top three short term concerns. This finding comes as a surprise to the prosperous country, known for being one of the happiest countries in the world.
Making ends meet registered as a top concern for five countries in the OECD report. Particularly countries that were hit hard by the global financial crisis. Greece had about seven out of ten people who cited ‘meeting expenses’ as a top three short-term worry.
