"Sometimes you have to walk". That's what President Trump said during a news conference following the second North Korean summit in Hanoi which ended earlier than planned. There was no joint agreement after Kim Jong-un insisted that all U.S. sanctions on North Korea be lifted.
Public expectations about the summit were low to begin with and according to a YouGov poll, 70 percent of Americans believed an agreement with North Korea to dismantle its nuclear program was not likely or not very likely. Just under a quarter of people believed an agreement was somewhat likely while five percent considered it very likely. When it comes to whether or not the U.S. should be directly negotiating with North Korea, 68 percent of respondents support the direct route.
