A new Quinnipiac University poll has found that President Donald Trump is dividing Americans. The research also gave Trump a 35 percent overall job approval rating, with 59 percent disapproving. The findings come as Trump retweeted a bizzare post showing four photos where his picture took the place of Obama's. The tweet was captioned "The best eclipse ever".
Aside from the president's flagging approval rating, Quinnipiac found that the Trump is a driving force for division across the country. 62 percent of voters think Trump is doing more to divide the country compared to 31 percent who believe he is doing more to unite it. The scale of the polarization is starkly illustrated by the following infographic.
Younger Americans in the 18-34 age bracket overwhelmingly feel that the president is dividing the U.S. while among older people, fewer tend to agree. Despite that, a sizeable majority across all age groups feel Trump is doing more to divide than unite the country as president.
