Divide and conquer: Ed Sheeran on top in 2017

With his latest work, 'Divide', singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran is enjoying a rather successful 2017. According to the Entertainment Retailers Association, the artist's third studio album has already shifted over 2 million units in the UK since its release on 3 March - blowing away all competition. The country's second best-selling album, released almost one month earlier, was 'Human' by Rag'n'Bone Man. The British singer has so far sold 694 thousand copies of his debut offering.

When looking at all entertainment categories, the product coming the closest to Divide was the latest entry in the Star Wars franchise, 'Rogue One', selling 1.2 million units since April. Film does dominate the list though, with ten releases making up the top fifteen products. Almost-Oscar-winner La La Land still managed to sell 294 thousand units, despite losing out to Moonlight for the best picture award back in February.

Although the majority of the products were released in or close to 2017, the perennially popular video game Grand Theft Auto V, released way back in September 2013, is still finding new buyers. In the last six months the game was sold 334 thousand times in the UK.
