Apple Leads on Smartphone Loyalty in South Africa
The smartphone market is huge, and while there are a few key players soaking up most of the global market share, customers are nevertheless spoiled for choice when it comes to different brands and models on the market. This makes it harder, but crucial for the companies to establish some level of brand loyalty and customer retention - especially with the short lifecycle of most handsets these days. In this infographic, we're utilizing the great depth and breadth of data in the Statista Global Consumer Survey to focus on the issue in South Africa.
When asked how likely they were to change to a different smartphone brand at the next opportunity, half of the Huawei users surveyed in South Africa said this was likely or very likely. As the chart shows though, this isn't necessarily representative of a fickle customer base in the smartphone segment, but a real problem for the company to address. Apple, the kings of tech brand loyalty had the opposite result: 52 percent of their users said it was unlikely or very unlikely that they will switch brands. Samsung could also learn a lot from its main smartphone rival when it comes to customer retention in South Africa. Here, 47 percent of Samsung smartphone users are likely to jump ship in the near future.
