Americans' Biggest Environmental Concerns

A new Gallup poll has looked into what Americans think of six major environmental problems facing the United States. Out of 1,010 U.S. adults polled in the first half of March, 56 percent expressed "a great deal" of worry about pollution of drinking water while 53 percent were very concerned about the pollution of rivers, lakes and reservoirs.

The loss of tropical rainforests was the primary concern after fresh water pollution with 45 percent indicating that they worry about that matter a great deal. Global warming/climate change is also high up on the list at 43 percent while 4 in 10 Americans also tend to worry a great deal about both air pollution and the extinction of plant and animal species.
