Presidential election
Biden Has Clear Lead Over Sanders, Trump
Despite a global pandemic and erratic economic downturn, the presidential race continues. New polls continue to show former Vice President Joe Biden distancing himself from Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders to become the clear Democratic leader to take on President Trump in November.
In an aggregate of new March polls, Biden is leading Sanders by 21 percentage points with just a couple months before the Democratic National Convention. Biden also possesses a clear lead in total delegates earned thus far, and ongoing virus concerns have seemingly made it much harder for Sanders to catch up via debates or new state votes. Some states, like Ohio and New York, have pushed their primary votes to a later date.
Polls comparing Biden to his potential general election counterpart also show a favorable lead. An aggregate of national polls shows Biden with over a 6-point lead over Trump. Sanders, if he were to win the nomination, is also favorably ahead of Trump by over 5 points.
