Turkey Hits Back Against Syria In Idlib

On Wednesday, a fistfight erupted in Turkey's parliament during a speech by opposition legislator Engin Ozkoc who had earlier accused President Erdogan of disrespecting Turkish soldiers who were killed in Syria. The fight involved dozens of politicans and comes amid an escalation of clashes between Turkey and Syria in the latter country's Idlib Province. At least 59 Turkish soldiers have been killed since Turkey began a military operation there with 34 killed in a Syrian government airstrike last week.

That prompted Turkey to strike back and numerous videos of airstrikes against Syrian military targets have appeared on social media. A blog run by Oryx has used those videos to tally the amount of Syrian military equipment destroyed or captured by Turkey in recent days. The list includes 45 tanks, 33 artillery pieces (self-propelled and multiple rocket launchers) and 20 infantry fighting vehicles. Turkish F-16s are also thought to be responsible for shooting down several Syrian aircraft including two SU-24s and an L-39 trainer/light attack aircraft.
