E-Cigarettes
11% of Americans Smoke E-Cigarettes
E-cigarettes are a hot topic. While the U.S. has announced a ban on some fruity flavors to curb use by teens, other countries like India have already passed more sweeping measures to outlaw e-cigarettes and vapes. Our chart provides an overview of the popularity of vaping among consumers in various countries using data from the Statista Global Consumer Survey.
E-cigarette use is particularly widespread in China where 17 percent of respondents said they (also) use an electronic cigarette or vape. In the UK and France, e-cigarettes also have a large following, with 14 and 13 percent of participants saying they used them, respectively. In the U.S., vaping has become less prevalent since last year's survey. Vaping and e-cigarette smoking was down from 13 to 11 percent.
In countries where e-cigarettes are banned - India (where the ban only applies to certain provinces) and Brazil – use is very low.
