UK crime: keeping it in the family?
A recent YouGov survey has asked the Great British public to consider a rather tricky dilemma: if you discovered that a family member or very close friend had committed a crime, would you report them to the police? Of course, the reaction would depend on the crime in question, and as our chart reveals, there aren't many that would let a loved one get away with murder or rape.
Far more likely to be kept in the family though are crimes such as tax evasion and shoplifting. Drug dealing is somewhat nuanced, with 41 percent saying they would probably keep a cannabis-related offence to themselves, but only 11 percent would be so lenient if heroin was the narcotic in question.
