England vs. Croatia - what the stats say

England kick off their Euro 2020 campaign at Wembley on Sunday when they face the side which kicked them out of the 2018 World Cup at the semi-final stage - Croatia. For that match we produced a similar infographic, looking to the stats for an idea of how the game might go for the Three Lions.

As this updated version shows, despite that one crucial loss in 2018, England do still have the edge historically with five wins, two draws and three losses (including friendlies). England logically also have the highest goal tally, 21 to 13, while their FIFA world ranking of 4th is also superior to Croatia's 14th. Whether Harry Kane, England's most valuable player according to Transfermarkt, can be the difference the team needs come Sunday is yet to be seen. If there's anything history has taught us though, especially in the case of England, it's to never write off the underdog.
