Brits oppose missile strikes on Syria

Following widespread condemnation for the chemical weapon attack which claimed the lives of dozens of civilians in Syria last week, key western nations such as the US, France and the UK have been mulling their response. Talk has so far been of a robust reaction, with the use of missile apparently not out of the question.

Since the perceived betrayal of the Iraq war, the British public, and indeed the UK parliament, is generally quite wary of any use of force in such situations. This also seems to be the case here, with a new YouGov poll showing that only 22 percent of Brits would be in favour of launching a cruise missile attack on Syria. With such a complex topic, it is also perhaps unsurprising to see that 34 percent were unsure if this was an appropriate action to take.
