U.S. Holds Back Aid To Palestinians

The Countries Donating The Most To The Palestinians

It has emerged that the U.S. is witholding over half of a $125 million aid payment to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). Even though the U.S. is paying $60 million, it is holding back on another $65 million. The UN has said that the move could prove devastating for hundreds of thousands of vulnerable Palestinians. Two weeks ago, President Trump complained that the U.S. is getting "no appreciation or respect" for the level of aid it donates.

As can be seen from the following infographic, the U.S. is the largest donor to the UNWR, giving $368 million in 2016, the most recent year data is available. Saudi Arabia is the second largest donor with $148 million while Germany and the UK are pretty much tied for third place, donating $73 million each.
